Best Way to scrub windows

Here we go through how to wash windows in the best way. Nothing will brighten up your home like giving your windows a proper cleaning . There are a myriad of tips out there for how to clean windows, from making your own window cleaning solution with vinegar to the old newspaper trick. Over time, windows naturally become dirty from dust in the air, birds flying by and insects. They should ideally be cleaned once a month, inside and out. But while window cleaning is a relatively simple cleaning job, it's also a bit of an art form when it comes to trying to achieve a streak-free finish. Unlike dusting shelves or cleaning kitchen counters, using the wrong cleaning technique can often feel like you've made your windows worse, not better.

Cleaning windows the right way can do wonders to improve the appearance of the home and create a brighter and more inviting atmosphere.

Using the right and good tools when cleaning your windows makes it easier and more fun while you get a better result. Here we have collected good advice and tips when it comes to what things are good to have when cleaning your windows. To facilitate the cleaning of your windows, it is good to use a large bucket with a handle. Then it is easy to carry between different windows and it can also function as storage when you are not using it. The bucket should ideally hold at least ten liters of water so that you don't have to change it several times during window cleaning .

Window cleaner
There are countless window cleaners available to buy, but did you know that the pros use regular dish soap? Do like the pros and get the cleanest tiles in the neighborhood by mixing yourself!

It is best to make your own window cleaner or if you want to run ready-made window cleaner, we recommend the window cleaner Wizz glass clear, which has been the best in many tests.

Washing sponges
Use a soft sponge. Forget that sponge you use in the kitchen that has a green, rough surface on one side - it can damage the window. Use a large, soft sponge to apply water and the window cleaner. One tip is to use a washing sponge that is made for washing cars. We recommend the following product:

Window scraper
A window scraper is not a must for cleaning your windows, but it simplifies the work and the result is better. Remember to use a window scraper or rubber scraper as a shower scraper is not suitable for cleaning windows. A tip is to store it in a plastic bag when not in use so that the rubber blade does not dry out. Feel free to invest in a good window scraper with replaceable rubber.

Rags
You will need some microfiber cloths and some towel. It is important that they are lint-free so that they do not leave traces behind. By using several cloths, you can ensure that residual dirt from one window is not transferred to another. Both microfiber cloths and rags from a well-washed cotton sheet work well.

High windows
If you have high windows, you may need a ladder or chair to stand on. You can also use a shaft extender to access the windows, much like using a roller to paint ceilings or walls.

Wash windows with washing-up liquid
In the same way that washing-up liquid makes your drinking glasses sparkling clean, it also gives your windows a shiny result. Cleaning windows with washing-up liquid is good in more ways than one. Partly, it is something that you probably have at home, so you don't have to get special funds. The detergent also makes it easier to use the rubber scraper against the window, it slides easier and more friction-free. It doesn't get cleaner with more detergent , rather it becomes more difficult to get the windows clean because a film can form from too much detergent. Detergent can also be used to clean your glasses, see more here.

Follow these steps to wash windows and get shiny panes and clean frames.
Pour a couple of tablespoons of washing-up liquid and possibly a couple of deciliters of vinegar into a bucket of warm water.
If you take the opportunity to wash the window frame, do it before you start cleaning the window. Dip a microfiber cloth in the water, rub off the dirt and wipe clean.
Wet the window pane thoroughly with a cloth, sponge or washcloth and dissolve the dirt by going over the surface a couple of times and rubbing a little extra on more stubborn spots. Make sure you don't wipe the water off but leave the pane really wet.
Use a window scraper and pull it from top to bottom so that it drains the water away.
Wipe the rubber on the scraper with a lint-free cloth after each stroke.
Continue in the same way over the parts of the window that are still wet with an overlap of a couple of centimeters until you have scraped clean the entire window.
Wipe the glass closest to the window frame by running the lint-free cloth one round along the joint so that it catches drops where the scraper did not reach.
Clean handles, fittings and window sills with a microfiber cloth.
Finish by wiping the window sheet on the outside with an old cloth.
Wash windows in the best way without scratching – with miracle cloth
The simplest method for washing windows is probably to use a miracle cloth. The cloth can be used approx. 100 times and can be machine washed. The only thing you need for window cleaning with a miracle cloth is water, a spray bottle and the miracle cloth itself. First you spray the window with water and window cleaner and then you wipe with the miracle cloth, then you rinse the cloth in clean water and then wipe the windows again - done! Easy as pie. No scraping is needed and the result is really good, maybe not quite as good as if you do it the classic way. But it absolutely works for a quick refresh of the windows!
